Refresh Roundup
This is the first of hopefully many posts which we recap how this month’s refresh meeting went. We had a great turnout of 19 people.
Talks
Our first talk this month was Django for Designers by Justin Lilly. Justin shared how Django can make designing with its template system easier through shortcuts such as a “Lorem ipsum” text generator, fast and easy iteration and grabbing information from the database.
Our second talk was Jason Beaird‘s Design 4 Developers. Jason hit on design principles such as balance, unity and emphasis. Also present in his talk were the subjects of color theory, typography and, the most important piece, how to put it all together.. rife with examples.
The Aftermath
After the talks were over, about 12-15 of us headed off to Carolina Ale House in the Vista. Good times were had by all. The food and drink was great as we learned more about each other.
