August 2008 Meetup

While we normally meet on the last Thursday, we’re making an exception this month for the first Gamecock football game and moving our meetup to Wednesday, August 27th at 6pm.  As with last month, we’ll be meeting at The State Newspaper and heading to the Carolina Ale House afterward.  This month’s topic:

New School Flash

Flash has long had a bad rap within the web standards community, but the times are a changing. It’s ability to embed fonts, serve dynamic content, and compress video have given us many reasons to give Flash another chance.  Unfortunately most of us have little experience with the powerful scripting aspect of this technology.

This month, Refresh Columbia aims to change that with two unique presentations on the topic of ActionScript.

In addition to these two great presentations, we have another incentive to come out and join our community.  Coffee Cup Software has graciously donated not 1, but 3 free passes to the Webmaster Jam Session on October 3rd in Atlanta, GA. We’ll be drawing names for all three of these passes at this month’s meetup, but if you don’t win one, we’ll have a coupon code (that we can’t publish here) for 30% off.  So if you want to go to the Jam Session, be sure to be at this month’s meetup!

When: August 27th, 2008 at 6pm
Where: The State Newspaper (directions)
Topic: New School Flash
RSVP: At Upcoming
