Other Local Groups
When a few of us got together and started talking about setting up an educational/social group for the web designers and developers in Columbia, we knew we wanted it to be very general. Our goal was to cover the full spectrum of web specializations. Because our range of meetup topics is so broad, we’ve made friends with a lot of other people here in town that are involved with other great professional & social groups. Here are the ones we know about that are also working to design, build, & make better use of the web:
- Columbia Adobe User Group – http://groups.adobe.com/groups/3108a9018a/
“We are designers, developers, and graphic artists in Columbia, SC that create high-quality, engaging experiences using Adobe products. Whether it’s using the Flash platform (Flash, AIR, Flex Builder, Flash Catalyst) to deliver interactive experiences, using Dreamweaver to craft beautiful, standards-compliant code, or creating dynamic graphics in Photoshop, Illustrator, or Fireworks, we hope you’ll find the right combination of tools and techniques that inspires you to create your best work. Our group is open to any professional, student, or Adobe user in the Columbia area who wishes to get the most from their software.” - AIGA South Carolina – http://southcarolina.aiga.org/
“Our goal is to stimulate, enhance and develop the graphic design profession and to embrace the other art fields. AIGA SC will serve as the heart for all areas of creativity.” - Columbia Ruby Brigade – http://colaruby.org
Developer group focused on the Ruby programming language. - Columbia Developers Guild – http://www.columbiadevelopers.org/
“The Columbia Enterprise Developer’s Guild (CEDG) meets every second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM EST at the Midlands Tech Northeast Campus Auditorium. Our meetings serve to educate the developer community on .NET and other enterprise technologies.” - Columbia Social Media Club – http://smccolumbia.com/
“Social Media Club is organized for the purpose of sharing best practices, establishing ethics and standards, and promoting media literacy around the emerging area of Social Media. Social Media Club brings together journalists, publishers, communications professionals, artists, amateur media creators, citizen journalists, teachers, students, tool makers, and others who create and consume media who have an interest in seeing the ‘media industry’ evolve for everyone’s benefit.”
Anybody know about any other local clubs or organizations I should add to this list?
